Pregnant Taking Antibiotic For UTI. Itching And Swollen Blisters In The Vagina. Swelling On The Hand. Allergic To Cefalexin?

Hi im 26 weeks pregnant and have been taking antibiotic for uti, but since then i have been having alot of itchyness on my vagina, now i have noticed my labia is quite swollen with blisters but no discharge or odour. I have also experienced extreme swelling in the left hand, could this be an allergic reaction to the antibiotic (cefalexin).

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

The itchy red skin in the vaginal area is likely a yeast infection caused by being on antibiotics. Given that you mentioned "blisters", you MUST get into your OB/GYN as soon as possible to make sure that this is not a herpes outbreak. I have no way of explaining your left hand, but this would not be a typical drug reaction.

I hope that this helps. If you have more questions, please click on "ASK ME A QUESTION" link above to directly ask me a question!
