Pregnant With Little Thyroid Problem. Should I Take Medicine?

Hi. I am 8wks pregnant. I just found out that my TSH is 8 from my bloodwork taken last week (when i was 7wks2days). My GP said that i don t need to start any thyroid meds but i ll need to have follow-up detailed thyroid bloodwork in another 5wks. I ve been reading about this condition online & am worried that i really should be taking meds?? Should i see my GP and ask her to prescribe meds?

Hello

YES you should get the treatment of hypothyroidism , during first three months of pregnancy tsh should not rise above 4.5 , if it is greater than this , spontaneous abortion can happen , i would strongly recommend to start thyroxine ASAP.

Hope this helps
