Premature Baby Has Viral Infection, Slow Breathing, Dipping Chest. Normal?
Hello I have a premature baby who was born at 30 weeks, she s now 4 weeks corrected and has had a bad chest , I took her hospital yesterday she apparently has a viral infection, she is on apnea alarm due to serious reflux , today I have noticed when she breaths it her chest dips in just above her tummy and her breathing is slowing down but she doesn t seem to be in pain? Do I need to take her back or is this normal?
Hi,
You have to definitely take her back to the doctor as early as possible.
This sort of breathing difficulty suggests a pneumonia which theses babies are prone to get.Even viral infections like RSV can be serious in pre term babies.Let the doctors evaluate her clinically and check her oxygen saturation. Good luck
