Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
I can understand your concern about the medicines she has been prescribed.
These drugs are useful in early pregnancy,in case of PCOD ( Poly cystic Ovarian Disease) or presence of insulin resistance, Overweight that is metabolic syndroime.
Metformin improves insulin sensitivity. Please take care of diet, usually this will not cause low blood sugar level.
Role of Folvite in early pregnancy is to prevent Neural Tube Defect.
Asprin low dose is given to prevent Gestational Hypertension and Pre Eclampsia.
All these drugs improve outcome of pregnancy.
I hope this information will help to understand and you can always ask your treating Gynecologist.
Take care
Good Luck
Hi sreedhar.
Like crocin is a drug of choice for fever but it is also given in headaches and bodyaches, similarly, metformin has many other uses rather than being given to patients of diabetes.metformin decreases the risk of firsr trimestee spontaneous abortions.it further reduces insulin resisrance in pregnancy.
Folvite is folic a is and ir helps in the brain development of the xhild.doctors nowadays have started recommeending folic acid 3 months prior ro conception.
Ecosprin 75mg is low dose aspirin.aspirin helps in thinning the blood and helps in lowering the blood pressure and increse the blood flow.
Basic indication of these drugs in the first trimester is to avert abortion and promote growth of the baby.
