Prescribed Histatussin For Bronchitis, Unable To Chew, Swallow Solid Food. Are These Side Effects?
My mother who is 90 years old has been prescribed Histatussin for a serious bout of bronchitis. She has since been complaining of being unable to chew or swallow solid food or to taste. IAre these side effects of this medication? She can swallow liquids.
Bronchitis is usually a viral infection. IN addition to the persistent cough , the infection may cause altered taste. It may also be associated with other symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection such as sore throat.
The symptoms are not known side effects of the medication.
She may want to use a spray/gargle or oral pain medication to help with the throat.
I hope this helps
