Prescribed A Massive Dose Of Effexor XR - 375mg Per Day. Should I Be Concerned ?

Ummm, ...hi, ...I have read some of the comments on this site, and am now really quite concerned. By comparison, I appear to be prescribed a massive dose of Effexor XR - 375mg per day. Should I be concerned?
My life history has been chronically "unusual" and, to date, I have had few side effects - foggy head being the worst.
Thanks for being here.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your available history.

Effexor contains venlafaxine which is very good anti depressant drug. Routine dose of venlafaxine is 75 mg to 300 mg but I have seen many patients taking even up to 450 mg per day.

However, you should regularly take the medicine with regular consultation of your psychiatrist as some of its side effect are dose dependent.

Foggy head might be a side effect of venlafaxine. For that, you should consult your psychiatrist. Your doctor may reduce the dose of venlafaxine or may advise you to start some add on medications.

You should also not discontinue taking medication as it may cause discontinuation syndrome.

I hope It will help you.

Thanks.
