Prescribed Amox For A 11 Month Old Baby. What Is The Dosage?
Hi, my 11mth old (25lbs) baby was prescribed amox. For a chest infection. We've been giving 5ml three times daily as we understood was prescribed for the last FIVE DAYS but actually the bottle says give HALF of a 5ml dosage. We are very concerned and not sure what we should do? Today I have him 2x 5ml then I realised, so I haven't given a third dose at all. I'm deeply worried!!! The prescription was confusing to tired parents. Please help.
I think it is best to work out the doses of Antibiotics according to the body weight of your child. If your child is 25lbs in weight she should have around 180 milligrams (45mgs per kilogram per day). So you could work out the dose according to the strength of amoxicillin (so give 5ml if the strength is 200mgs/5ml) Hope this helped you in dosing
