Prescribed Antibiotics For Sore Inflamed Area At The Center Line Of Helix And Scapha But No Improvement

I have a sore inflamed area at the centre line of my right helix and scapha - it is red and delicate to touch especially if I am lying on that side in bed. My GP has prescribed antibiotic ointment and I have been taking it since Wed 4 Dec but there is no improvement. The chemist suggested I would see some benefits within 3 to 4 days. Any suggestions because it is now worrying me

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. The main thing that needs to be ruled out would be an abscess; if it is an infected collection then it would have to be drained and antibiotic would not be able to heal the infection by itself. Would suggest to have it checked again by the original provider.

Hope that is useful, wish you the best,
