Prescribed Duac Gel And Sodium Sulfacetamide. Taking Spironolactone. Skin Starts To Break. Suggest

My dermatologist prescribed me with duac gel to use daily and sodium sulfacetamide to apply at night. I am also taking 100mg. of spironolactone daily for acne. My face gets super clear for about 3 or 4 months of using all of this and then starts breaking out terribly. I stop using my topical prescriptions for a while and then when I start using them again I have the same clear skin for a few months and then it stops working. Why does this happen and what can I do to help it?

Hi thanks for writing here. Spironolactone is having antiandrogenic properties ,so it is used in those acne pateints who are having hormonal disturbance.It only suppresses hormonal levels and do not act in other factors of acne such as infections,oiliness.This is where your topical agents are going to work.So do continue with topical agents and you have to use them even when your face is clear which will help in preventing your recurrence.Talk to your doctor if you have any other hormonal complaints and do have treatment for it.Hope this can solve your problem.
