Hello there.
Thanks for writing.
Lupigest and susten are basically the same drug but the names are different as they are produced by different pharmaceutical companies.
Both lupigest and susten contain
progesterone hormone.
These can be used orally or vaginally.
Vaginal use has a local action avoiding many of the non serious side effects of progesterone. Besides its acting at the place where it is required that is the vagina.
Progesterone hormone is protective for
pregnancy. It helps support early pregnancy and keeps the
uterus relaxed. It is used in cases where there is bleeding or pain in early pregnancy.
However 100 % efficacy of progesterone hormone tablet in preventing an abortion is not yet proved.
It should not be routinely used in all pregnant patients. Its use has been studied in cases of
threatened abortion where it has been justified that it would support the pregnancy which is likely to abort.
If you do not have pain, bleeding or any other complaints, there is no point using lupigest or susten. It is not at all required.
As such there is no harm in taking these tablets. But advantages are also not yet proved.
I hope I have answered your query.
take care.
