Prescribed With Pur-Bloka. What Ailments Is This Tablet Given For?

Hello, My mom was prescribed Pur-Bloka and would like to know the following: 1) What ailments is this tablet directed at? 2) Can the use of this medication affect her sense of smell if she had bronchitis a couple of months before starting the medication. 3) She has always suffered from low blood pressure - is this the correct medication or do you think her blood pressure may have gone up at the time of it being prescribed? 4) She shakes quite a bit and was told that this medication would help - it seems to have got worse? 5) She wants to stop this medication - can this be done gradually?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

1- This medicine is Propronolol - Beta blocker. There are a lot of indications, the common ones are blood pressure, fast heart rate, anxiety, migraine and so on.
2- Smell getting affected - is extremely uncommon, but has been reported.
3- This medicine lowers the blood pressure / that is one prime indication for it!
4- It helps in tremor - especially familial, anxiety and so on
5- It can be stopped - but it must be done slowly / tapering by percentages, to prevent possible rebound.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
