Prescribed With Cephalexin For An Enlarged Sebaceous Cyst. Will It Get Cured?
i have a large sebaceous cyst on my right temporal area. It has not leaked any fluids or anything but it is tender and walnut-sized. i have a prescription for cephalexin and took my first one tonight. exactly what does this do? will it make the cyst go down some or will it simple help with fighting off infection? also, will applying cortizone .10 help with the inflammation? i am a 28 year old female who has never had severe acne or a cyst like this before.
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. The above mentioned medicines are just to reduce the redness, pain, tenderness or in other words inflammation. Inflammation or infection usually sets in when the lesion is squeezed or manipulated. A sebaceous cyst is a cyst underneath skin containing foul smelling cheesy white content. It is characterised by a central black punctum.
Once the inflammation settles, it is advised that you get the lesion surgically removed. Hope that helped. Take care
