Preventive Measures After Recovering From A Bad Bout Of Amoebic Dysentery

I was recently in Mexico and had a bad bout of Amoebic Dysentery. I was hospitalized for 3 days and am now home and finishing the meds my dr. in Mexico prescribed. I seem to be getting better, but, wonder if it will present itself again. I have gone to Mexico annually for 40 years. Is there something preventive I could take before my trip next year?
Thank you.

Hi,
Amoebic dysentry is a disease caused by protozoa called Amoeba which is found in coordinated water n food and transfered through faeco oral route .
So to prevent it you have hygienic food n purified water , always wash hand before food n after using toilet with soap, ...etc
If you have stools of small amount , multiple frequency with froth n blood , foul smell followed by abdominal cramp then nitroimidazole can be started after stool examination for seven days along with plenty of ORS ( 1 pkt mixed in 1 lit )and other supportive management .

Thanks n regards
