Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my baby is 7 months old. he feeds only on breast milk and refuses to feed from bottle. plus he doesn t eat bananas or apple or any kind of juice . he likes khichdi and daal but doesn t eat more than 3 or 4 tea spoons. what should i do ? i am afraid that he ll remain underfed and weak.
Hello neelu;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
If your baby is breast fed and refuses the bottle it is fine as bottle use many a times becomes a cause of infection of stomach in babies.As for the other food like daal;khichdi;keep on trying to see what he likes and keep on giving him the same.As far as underfed you are worried about please do not worry as the baby will take the food as he needs and even get enough energy to grow properly.As a parent our part is to try and give the meal frequently if the baby has only 3-4 spoons at a time.
Take care.
Thanks

Hello
Remember these few facts
1.breastfeeding is the primary nutrition in 1st yr of life.
2. Introduce solids gradually 1-2 tbsp n then increase as per baby
3.Please do not bottlefeed .it increases the risk of infection
4.breastfed babies wt gain is less than bottlefed baby but they r much more healthier.
Try to set a schedule for feed n nap times. Feed baby solids three times in a day max 4 not more than that.try to breastfeed for the remaining time.instead of juices mashed fruits r preferred.giv 2 serving khiccdi 1 of fruit in a day.
