Provide Recommendations For Moyamoya Disease Apart From Plavix And Aspirin

I am a 50 year old female with several tia s and a stroke on 12/24/15. I ve had several tests including a lumbar spinal tap and recently diagnosed with moyamoya disease. I am currently waiting for my neurosurgeon evaluation and am looking for a facility in PA for a 2nd opinion. I am on Plavix and aspirin right now and have ongoing headaches with some weakness. Can you provide any additional recommendations?

Hi,

First of all, if you had hypertension, you would take a medical treatment, decrease salt and fat intake and do an ECHO and an ECG on your heart. Second, if you take a hormonal replacement therapy or oral contraceptive pills you should ask a gynecologist for help. The medical treatment is temporary and the best treatment is surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mustafa, Neurologist
