Hi..My son is 2.5 years old and he is not well from last one week, had cold initially and now smelly greenish stool from 3-4 days. Consulted doctor, she advised for tufpro, zincolife. Stool frequency has reduced but the color is still greenish and smelly too. Now she has advised for Zanocin syrup. Just wanted to check what s wrong with him and are we giving him proper treatment. Thanks!!
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of infrequent bowel movement with unusual smell which seems to be due to poor and improper digestion of food and it is leading to electrolyte imbalance in body.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Avoid giving large meal intake to child at a time and give small and frequent meals.
- Give diet rich in fluids.
- Eat light and bland food, avoid spicy and heavy food.
- Increase fiber content and probiotics in diet.
If symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe stool softeners along with H2 blockers , omeprazole and laxatives.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
