Pulmonary TB Is Getting Treated. Persisting Fever. Have Diabetes. Recovery Period?
My father (50 years) was diagnosed with Pulmonary TB a month ago. He has been on treatment since then. His fever is persistent, he gets it on an average 3 times a day some times the frequency goes up or down. His lung infection has gone down either. He also has diabetes.
How long does it take for fever to subside and TB infection to go down? He takes DOLO-650 every time he has fever.
Please help me.
How was your father diagnosed to have pulmonary tuberculosis ?
If his sputum sample was positive for AFB ( acid fast Bacilli) before treatment , you can get it repeated to see if your father is responding to treatment.
If your fathers treatment was started empirically ( based on clinical features with tests being negative ) fever should come down by 4 weeks.
If your fathers Diabetes is not under control ( fasting sugar Discuss with your doctor about the possibility of other diagnoses and also consider resistant tuberculosis if sputum sample was positive
