Punctured Thumb On An Old Nail, Red And Swollen Like Blister. How Will It Heal? Tetanus Vaccine Taken
three days ago i punctured my thumb on an old nail. it bled a little and i washed it well w/ warm water and mild soap. it didnt bother me and seemed to be healing fine. last night i was dumping rooto drain cleaner (sulfuric acid) into the standing water in my bath tub. my glasses fell off and as i reached to catch them i put my hand partway into the water/rooto in the tub. i briefly rinsed it off. this morning my thumb is red and very swollen and it looks like its one big blister. it is painful. what do you recomend? (oh, & my tetanus vaccine is up to date but I have no insurance and very little money at this time)

as for tetanus if you have taken tetanus vaccine less than five years no need for any vaccine.
but if taken 5 to 10 years before take one dose of tetanus now.
as for your injury is concerned red and swollen thumb may be due blood clot due to injury in the area
there is nothing need to be done to the blister.
if you develop fever or pus in the blister it has to be incised and drained
