Put Lidocaine Eye Drop For Examination, Felt Dizzy, Light Headed For Some Time. Allergic Reaction?
Saw the eye doctor for a routine visit to day. On eye exam had a lidocaine eye drop put into my eyes to check eye pressure. Within less than a minute, I began to,feel dizzy and lightheaded. I asked to lay down on the floor to avoid passing out. Was this an allergic reaction? The episode lasted about 15 minutes before I starting feeling better. But all day I have been feeling "off," fatigued and not strength.
You should be well cautious before your next examination of eye. And yeah there are small surgical procedures done in Local Anaesthesia (stiching or simple surgery of cyst or local application in case of fissure ano etc) which uses lidocaine injection. You should first have sensitivity test done before these procedures. Even large surgeries like bowel surgery or lower limb surgery requires spinal anaesthesia, which uses lidocaine in certain percentage, so be cautious !!
Dont worry you will be fine in few days but be cautious in future and add allergic to lidocaine in your medical book or your personal diary.
