Quit Smoking Due To High Cholesterol Levels. Still Having High Cholesterol Levels. Need Help
6 years ago I quit smoking, I am 5'7" 140 lbs active My cholestrol total was 230 good cholestrol at 74 and my triglicerides was 72 before I quit. Now I am 5'7" 140 lbs and active and my total cholesterol is 194 but my triglerides are 123. What the heck. I eat well and take supplements. What else could cause the tri to rise
Dear Sir/Madam Thanks For your query. Please do not be so frustrated. A triglyceride of 123 is fine. There is nothing to worry. Triglyceride levels depend upon a number of factors and may vary in an individual from time to time depending upon life style, diet etc. Alcohol/lack of exercise/ excessive carbohydrates (mind it carbohydrates not the unsaturated fat)/ saturated fats/ overweight tend to increase triglyceride. A variation within normal limits (as in your case) is not only effected by these things but also by the method used by the lab, time since last meal etc. Keep your weight under control, do daily exercise and eat balanced diet. Hope it helps. Sincerely sukhvinder singh
