Raised, Deep Red Painful And Itchy Scar Persisting Post Months Of Scratching. Signs Of Something Serious?
I scratched my hand about 2 months ago, and now have a raised, deep red scar that is painful and sometimes itchy. It looks like the scar is right on top of a vein . The scratch took a long time to heal, and I used isopropanol and hydrogen peroxide to keep it clean for 1 month. Why do I have this painful scar, and could it be symptomatic of a bigger problem?
hi..thanks for your query.
The rate at which the skiing should have healed also depends on the depth of the injury i.e the scratch that you mention and whether there was any superimposed bacterial infection on it.If the scratch was superficial, I do not see any reason why it should heal so slow. But if it was deep, has a prolonged healing time, you should consult a dermatologist about the same. Some people have this genetic tendency to form Hypertrophic scars or Keloids, so that might be the case.
Hope this helps..tAKE CARE!
