Rash On Cheeks, Does Anyone Know What This Could Possibly Be ?

Up until last spring my skin was fine. I got an occasional pimple, but that was it. Then I worked for a temporary job where I had to wear makeup. I developed a rash on my cheeks , but no-where else. I am a 34 year old female. I have hypothyroidism that I was not being treated for until about 2 months or so after the rash first appeared. Other than that, my medical history is fairly unremarkable. No major illnesses or surgeries, no disorders or conditions. No allergies. My skin on my cheeks is very dry and flaky, and it itches. When I scrub my cheeks while washing, and then put on moisturizer afterwards, it burns. I tried several different moisturizers and soaps/cleansers. I have stopped using all cosmetics and moisturizers. I switched to dye-free and scent-free laundry products, and washed everything that comes into contact with my body in these products, but it did not help. I have tried keeping cortisone cream on my face. I tried taking claritin and benadryl (not at the same time.) I have started taking fish oil capsules. Nothing is working. Here is a picture of what the rash looks like http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6413/photoye.jpg Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

Hi!,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum,
Probably you are suffering from rosacea...which manifest as redness of cheeks with itching and burning..esp on sun exposure, spicy food and stress.Start using a sunscreen daily and avoid taking tea ,coffee..take good sleep and drink lot of water.Along with sunscreen use a water based moisturizer also.

HI. i tried the link you have posted but couldnt see your pic.
you may be having rosacea or contact dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis does not manifest in this way. You may send me your pics on my email id. I need to confirm the diagnosis before starting treatment. in the meantime you continue using a good moisturizer (cetaphil is agood bet) and a soap free cleanser (cetaphil again).

HI
Welcome to healthcaremagic forum
The symptoms suggests that you may have atopic dermatitis, possibly due to make-use/over use/allergy.
It is observed that a large no of patients with hypothyroidism , experice skin allergy ( urticaria/ atopic dermatitis ).
You can visit a homeopathic physician for this complaint. Meanwhile keep the use of cosmetics and ointments to minimum. For dryness, petroleum jelly is best. Use glycerine containing face wash/soap . Pat dry your face, and avoid too much scrubbing.
Takecare.
