Rash On Genital Are. Using Clotrimazole. Partner Under Yeast Infection Treatment. Negative STD Test
Hello,
I have rash on my genital area. My partner and I have both been tested, so it's not STD/STI related. My partner was self treating for a yeast infection. I used Clotrimazole for myself, but my rash just got worst and now feels like I have cuts on my penis. The skin is scaly and flaky. The rash is not on the head of my penis, which makes me doubt that its a yeast infection.
It is possible that the symptoms are related to a dermatitis. This means that it may be caused or worsened as a result of contact with some cream/lotion/soap/detergent/ other chemical that would have come into contact with the area.
You may want to check to see if there have been any changes in any of the above.
In addition the application of a topical steroid might reduce the inflammation and irritation that you are experiencing. A small amount should be used.
Some persons have two co existing skin conditions and it is possible to be experiencing both a fungal infection and dermatitis so you may need an antifungal as well.
You may want to consider being assessed by your doctor.
I hope this helps
