Reason For Having Irregular Periods With Brown Discharge
Hi am 42 years old and in Nov. I had two periods nothing in Dec. and now this month I have had two periods again. The last period only lasted 4 days when they normally last 7 and there was some brown discharge also. The second period that I had in Nov. lasted the 7 days but after that when I would wipe there was blood for a few days. I am a little worried. I have a boyfriend he had a vasectomy 20 years ago. I do have 2 kids also.
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
The chance of pregnancy is extremely rare in the setting of your age and a boyfriend who has had a vasectomy. In women over the age of 40, it is very common to have irregular bleeding related to irregularity in terms of when you ovulate. This becomes more irregular and in some cases you do not ovulate at all. Talk to your doctor about thyroid testing and whether an ultrasound is indicated to rule out other causes.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
