Hi there, I am a 21 year old and have been diagnosed with PCOS only last year. I have always had irregular periods. I have a son who is turning 5. I have been put on Ginet-84. My concern is I've bled whilst on the yellow tablets, which bleeding comes and goes or can stay for two weeks then go for 3 days. Its really confusing. I've now been on Ginet-84 for about 5 months now. I really want another baby, is there anyway of sending me advise. I have lost weight and still loosing it. concern is still bleeding and cant conceive.
Ginet - 84 is an oral contraceptive, birth control pill used in New Zealand that also decreases acne. While pills are often used to regulate the menstrual cycle, especially in patients with PCOS, it does not work for everyone. It is however an effective contraceptive even if you are bleeding irregularly. You will need to stop the pill when you want to conceive. Your best chance will be in the first 1-3 months after yo stop. You are more likely to have regular cylces for a few months. If that doesn't work, the good news is that there are several treatment optiins. Clomid is a medication that has been used for decades to help PCOS patients to conceive. Sometimes metformin is also used. It's time to revisit your doctor, change your pill if still bleeding, and stop when you wish to conceive. She or he will likely prescribe prenatal vitamins and make a plan with you about when to return for the meds to help you conceive or for pre natal care. Congrats on your weight loss. It may help make PCOS less severe.
