Reason For Pain In Fold Of Right Elbow? Veins Enlarged.
I have pain in the fold of my right elbow where I normally have blood drawn. The veins enlarge and the pain worsens as it goes up the top of the bicep from the fold about an inch or two. sometimes I think I see a small lump at the cite which is soft and pliable. It started about 3 weeks ago, gets worse at times, other times there s no problem. I can t seem to isolate what aggravates it. it does seem to feel better if I keep my arm extended.
Dear friend,
The problem you are facing has developed because of the injury to the wall of your vien while drawing the blood.
The vein becomes irritated and injured because of wrong drwing technique, faulty material of the drawing needle and sensitivity of body to such a material. This is called Thromboflebitis.
You need to apply locally available cream to treat the situation (ask your chemist for a Heparin gel ).
Avoid drawing blood from the same area again and keep the elbow at rest as more movement would further increase the inflammation.
Consult your doctor if situation worsens or persists beyond one more week.
Best,
Dr Rakesh.
