Reason For Swelling And Pain In Caesarian Section Incision?

I had two daughters by ceasarian section, the last 15 years ago and in that area I feel swollen and pain. I am 52 years old and am going through menopause. I haven t had a period now for about 2 months. I have been gradually getting less peiords but now am uncertain if the pain and swelling in this area is due to possible complications within my womb and ovaries. My last pap smear was about 1 1/2 years ago. I plan to visit a doctor soon because the problem is quite frequent.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

The swelling and pain at the site of incision can be due to a hypertrophy of the scar. You can apply 1% hydro-cortisone gel and see if it helps.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
