Recommend Solutions For Left-sided Jaw Pain

I have jaw pain on left side of face. Pain travels upper and lower jaw and sometimes to ear. I allways have to have a piece of gum in my mouth or chewing something to calm the pain down. This pain is very bad. I can t sleep and can t have my top teeth touch my bottom teeth. No signs of grinding but I do clench my teeth, but I feel it is because I am in so much pain. I have been to dentist and neurologist. Dentist says to remove wisdom tooth but when sent to oral surgeon they refused to pull it. Neurologist doesn t think it is my teeth.

Hi,

As per your complain it seems that pain in upper and lower jaw along with pain radiating to ear and also a history of clenching habit seems to be due most probably Jaw joint dysfunction known as TMJ or TMD. In case if it is not due to it, it can be due to nerve related pain and can be due to Trigeminal Neuralgia. But most probabLe chances are of TMJ. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician or an Oral Pathologist an get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like panoromic x ray, MRI scan etc can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly. As of now you can take painkillers like Ibuprofen but if there is severe pain Tramadol can be taken. Take a soft diet. Avoid excess mouth opening. Avoid stress by doing breathing exercises and yoga.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
