Reddish mucus in the stool can be caused by intestines bacterial infection and so is bad smell. However if the mucus in stool is more like raspberry jelly, it can be a sign of intestines intussusception. The abdomen gets bloated, cramps do appear, nausea can be present.
As intussesception is an urgent condition, I suggest you to visit your doctor, have abdominal ultrasound, blood work and stool tests performed. If it will be confirmed, surgery might be necessary.
In case of infection, antibiotics may be prescribed by your doctor.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
