Reduced Flexibility. Pain In The Back While Stretching. How To Fix It?

I'm a gymnast and my main strength is flexibility. But lately whenever I stretch something is wrong. On my left leg when I reach out towards it to touch my toes it will hurt in the back of my thigh. It's not the pain you get when your stretching because I know what that feels like; this pain is the pain you get when your doing something wrong. What can I do to fix it? I can't really take too much time off because I'm a gymnast but I want it fixed

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The reduction in the flexibility of the back is likely to be related to muscle stiffness. This can be relieved by doing hot fomentation and regular back strengthening exercises.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
