Regular Periods, Cycle Short. Took Pill After Unprotected Sex. No Periods After Spotting. Pregnant?

Hi,
I am a 34 year old female and I have regular periods, my cycle is a 15-18 day cycle. I have had unprotected sex a few times in the last month but have always taken the emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hrs of that. I had very less spotting on 27th Aug. After that I have not had my periods .I am worried of pregnancy. Preliminary HPT done at home shows negative results. What should I do?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

You should not take emergency contraceptive pills regularly. These can cause cysts in ovary and irregular periods. This causes hormonal imbalance due to high dose. Your less periods and absent periods are because of taking emergency pills regularly.

Please ask your partner to use barrier methods like condoms or you take regular low dose pills. Visit your gynecologist for consultation and advise.

Hope this helps
