Removed The Stitches And Found That Its Lumpy And Hard Under The Skin. Will It Go Away?

I just had 5 stitches removed under my chin after a deep cut. Where the stitches were, is now all lumpy and hard under the skin. The injury occurred 13 days ago, and stitches removed 12 days later. What causes the area to be lumpy and hard, and will it go away? Anything I should put on it to reduce scarring? Thank you

Hello,
Thank you for writing to HCM.

It is induration, may be due to infection. Apply neosporin ointment in the affected area. It will take a few days to become normal. If it worsen consult your surgeon for starting antibiotics.
After complete healing of your scar use Retino-A 0.025% daily night -keep for 45 mins and wash with plain water. Do not use this cream on healing wound.
Take Tab.Citravate (vit C) daily once.

Regards
