Reoccurring Lung Infections. Possible For Ecoli To Grow In Lungs? Any Underlying Problem?
Hi, my mum has been getting reaccuring infections in her lungs for 12 months now and has been admitted to hospital as ecoli has grown in her lungs, is this possible and if so how has it happened? There appears to be no diagnosis but the problem is on going could there be an underlying problem of motor neurones disease or chronic granule atoms disease that has not been detected?
It is very possible that ecoli grow in lungs. We do see alot of ecoli infections in our ICU. However it is seen only if the patient is hospitalized or has some underlying lung disease like COPD or Bronchitis. Also being a female a urinary tract infection can reach blood and then the lungs
