Repeated Nosebleeds After Root Canal Treatment. Possibility Of Sinus Cavity Ruptured ?

My husband had a root canal Feb 26 on one of his front top teeth , since then he s had 3 or 4 nosebleeds & has never previously had nosebleeds. Could they have ruptured his sinus cavity? Is this dangerous? He went back to the dentist quickly to check today & they ve told him it s unlikely that it s related to his recent root canal, but to call them immediately if the nosebleeds persists. What do you think?

Hello,

Yes, it's unlikely that root canals would cause nosebleeds by rupturing the sinus cavity as the needles are pretty small in caliber and the length of the root is measured beforehand. However, a previous infection of the canine tooth root (which has in fact the longest root) can progress to the sinus and can cause nosebleeds but again this is pretty rare. Your husband should have his blood pressure checked and a nasal examination done to identify the cause of nosebleeds.
