Right Side Of Upper Lip Swollen, Took Steroids, Still Slight Puffy. Is It Due To Cyst Underneath ?
Three weeks ago the right side of my upper lip swelled up quickly and quite largely. I went to the ER but by the time I was there it had already subsided a lot. They still gave me steroids and benadryl and prescribed more steroids to taper off of. I was also told to take an antihistamine. I have been doing this but my right side of my lip is still slight puffy/droopy. There is a small cyst underneath the area as well which I am getting looked at next week. I also am seeing an allergist next week to test for possible culprits. My concern is that I may have some sort of infection, or permanent swelling. I'm not convinced that I had an allergic reaction necessarily, because it seems like my lip should be back to normal by now. Is it possible that the cyst has caused the glands around it to swell as well? I'm very concerned.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Swelling in upperlip is one of the signs of allergy. But the swelling wont stay for three weeks and you also noticed small cyst. If it is infected then the swelling will be due to inflamatory reactions or due to cyst itself. There is a treatment for all the causes so dont be very concerned of it, if it is paining or fever you can take antiinflammatory drugs for now, but need to be examined for complete management. Consult your doctor for management. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
