Suggest Remedies For Dark, Cracked And Swollen Upper Lip
I have noticed in the last few months the skin above my upper lip has gotten darker than in the last week my upper lip is swollen and I have cracked skin in the corners of my mouth and there is a slight burn and ting with my swollen upper lip and it is limiting what I can eat be use of the inflammation and burning?
What you are referring to seems like what we call in medical terms:
1) Angular stomatitis which happens due to nutritional deficiency of vitamin B12 and iron. More blood investigation might be needed to confirm this (blood HB and other RBC indices)
2) Angioedema which is a severe allergic reaction manifestation both of them need clinical evaluation and consultation
To conclude:
1) you can increase the intake of vitamin B12 and iron in the food which are a green leafy vegetable, salmon, egg, dates
2) for itching and inflammation you can use antihistamines like cetirizine
3) also you can use cold compression for relief
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. ASIF, General & Family Physician
