Rise In PSA Levels After Prostate Removal. History Of Regulated Levels From Mexlican. Any Ideas?
I had removal of the prostate in Aug 2009. Ever since my PSA levels has risen . From Oct 2011 to now it maintained at 2.9. Is it possible Prostatitis might be affecting me? I was precsribed Mexlican a year ago which lowered it short term to 1.0. My understanding is there is a specific treatment for this and anti-biotic doesnt cure it. The Pathologist found nothig in his search. I was suggested have radiation where it was removed with a 50-50 chance. What do you think Sir?
I am sorry I not familiar with Mexlican and my web search isntry fruitful also to know more about Mexlican drug. After radical prostatectomy your PSA levels should be undetectable. Any rise in PSA after prostatectomy should be evaluated for prostate cancer recurrence. a pelvic ct scan, bone scan and chest xrray is needed as part of the workup. a rectal exam to check the prostate bed is also needed to be conducted by a urologist. if there is a palpable mass then a biopsy should be done. Treatment would be determined by the results of the above mentioned tests.
I would not consider prostatitis since your prostate was completely removed already. BTW how was your histopath result? what gleason score,? surgical margins? lymph nodes? These are very important details to calculate for disease recurrence.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://www.HealthcareMagic.com/doctors/dr-manuel-c-see-iv/66014 I would gladly help you. Best wishes.
