Robot-like Sound In My Ear, How Do I Get Rid Of This ?

4 days ago I woke up with this annoying robot-like sound in my right ear. It sounds like EVE from WALL-E. I can hear it whenever I talk, people talk to me, or when I talk. Basically whenever I hear anything. I also noticed that my right ear also has a slight decrease in hearing. I cleaned my ears, do not have a cold, and did not go swimming. I actually had this before, but with a cold and disappeared after 2 days and the robot-like sound wasn t that prominent. I admit that I do listen to loud songs with my ipod How do I get rid of this?

Hi,

Your ears need to be examined, you said there was nothing you found while cleaning the ear. There are possibilities of you having eustachian tube dysfunction or wax accumulated in the external auditory canal. You can definitely use ipod but listen with a moderate volume.

Ok, I'll schedule an appointment with an ENT specialist tomorrow because its 11PM in my country. Could me ipod be the cause? I've been using my ipod for a long time now maybe 4 years and these past year and a half I have had the volume on high (people can hear the music even while I am wearing the earphones). I would use it about 3-4 hours a day.

I am experiencing the same
Exact symptoms. All deep voices Nd intermittently with high pitched Voices, have not noticed it with whispers. Sounds like a computer voice. When I'm having the sound distortion , I appreciate the effect better with both ears unoccluded. If I cover one ear it is still present but much less noticeable. Same when I cover both. When I cover the ears, I hear the effect better in my right ear. I have no other symptoms:no fever, chills, sinus pressures, sore throat, runny nose, muscle aches. I don't have ear pressure sensTion either. The only recent changes to my daily routine I can think of are: recently started playing guitar through my iPad using it as a amp and playing it through the earbuds. It went off loud with some feedback once a few days ago. Recently started new dose/formulation of extended release add meds. One of my buds is sick with upper resp infection. Lol so many factors in the right time frame .Did your symptoms go away? Did u figure out what it was?

I saw an ent person also. Turns out I had isolated low frequency hearing loss. Was put on high dose steroids for 14 days. Hearing returned to normal by 5th day of prednisone. Crazy!
