respected sir, kindly help me my daughter is of i yr and 4 months. i found that she is unable to hear. i took her to an audiologist and he suggested me for some tests. after tests and MRI he suggested me of cochlear implant. now i am going to start for her therapy and cochlear implantation will be done after two months. i recently read abt an discovery in 2007 that some childrem suffer from temporary deafness, r born deaf and were suggested for CI but later started hearing normally . R THERE ANY TESTS TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE child is SUFFERING FORM TEMPORARY DEAFNESS

1. OAE (Oto Acoustic Emission) Test
2. Impedence Audiogram to rule out middle ear defects.
3. ASSR (Auditory Steady State Response) Testing
4. Aided Audiometry / BERA (ABR) / ASSR
5. Aided Behavioral / Play Observation Audiometry
6. Genetic Testing.
before considering the cochlear implant the first test they do is whether it is a temporary deafness or permenant defness, if it is temporary deafness no way a choclear implant is advised.
