Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you mentioned in your query that , you consume 550 ml red wine / day from last 20 years.
500 ml contains 40 grams
ethanol which which you are taking per day.
However effects of wine varies from person to person.
Commonly the side effects of wine are as follow as,
Incidence of
pancreatitis is almost three times more than an individual person.
Wine reduces glucose production from
glycogen ( as glucose is a source of energy in our body).
Increase level of lactic acid in body ( dangerous as it causes pain in body).
THE MOST IMPORTANT SIDE EFFECT IS ON LIVER AS,
alcohol decrease oxidation of fatty acid in liver , so fatty acid deposited in liver cells.
In healthy individual this is reversible.
In alcoholic repeated exposure to alcohol leads to ,
Fatty infilteration of liver,
alcohol induced hepatitis,
cirrhosis.
I have mentioned the side effects of wine, rest is up to you.
I wish you live another 20-30 years a healthy life.
Good luck.
Dr. HET
