Scheduled Colonoscopy For Rectal Bleeding. Will They Be Able To See Fibroids Outside Uterus?

I have had 2 miscarriages and been told I have lots of fibroids . Ever since the miscarriages I have had heavy painful periods and take ibuprofen and motrin alot. I ve had some stomach trouble with some rectal bleeding and my doctor is sending me for a colonscopy because he says it sounds like an ulcer . During the colonscopy will they be able to see any fibrids if they are growing outside of the uterus?

With a colonoscopy the doctor will not be able to see your fibroids. The colonoscopy is to evaluate the inside your large bowel with a camera, and to check why you have blood coming through your rectum. If your doctor suspects an ulcer due to the amount of ibuprofen you are taking, it seems that he will also do an upper endoscopy to look into your stomach, which is the most common place for ulcerations.
Fibroids can be checked with imaging studies such as an ultrasound, CT scan, etc. Try to decrase the amount of ibuprofen and motrin, and consider taking a pill to protect your stomach from ulcerations such as ranitidine.
