Scheduled To Have Hysterectomy. Have Fibroid In Lining Of Uterus
Hello Dr. Grief, I am 41 years old and scheduled to have a hysterectomy on July 15th, I am a little nervous and I still have to go back and talk to my OB/GYN before everything is set in stone? Are there difficulties having a hysterectomy when you have a fibroid in the lining of the Uterus? My doctor told me before that it is within the lining and he doesn't know what is behind it that is why he couldn't remove it with a D&C procedure
Hi thanks for your question. There is nothing to worry. Fibroiduterus is indications for hysterectomy. only small fibroids in cavity of uterus can be removed by D & C. Fibroids which are in the wall of uterus or big fibroids in uterine cavity cannot be removed by D&C. Sever bleeding which is difficult to control can occur in trying to remove big fibroids in the cavity of uterus by D&C and again hysterectomy may be needed to control this bleeding. Hope this answers your question
