Inserting urinary catheter is a simple procedure and it is often painless and free of any complications.
Bleeding can be a rare complication, due to trauma to the
urethra while insertion of catheter or due to pulling on the catheter after insertion, when the position of the patient is changed, etc.
In any case, the bleeding due to any trauma should subside soon. So, in your case, the bleeding does not seem to be due to the catheter. You should, however, consult a doctor to establish the exact cause for bleeding.
