Sensitive Face, Red And Blotchy. Drinking Alcohol Worsens It. What It Could Be?
my face has always been sensitive. I don't use any fragrance on it and I try to drink enough water. lately though, it's been red and blotchy, with some dry spots especially on my lower face. it seems to worsen when I drink alcohol, or take pain meds. (I had to take some Hydrocodone after a surgery a few weeks ago, and noticed it made my face worse). any thoughts on what this could be?
Hello Welcome to healthcaremagic It could be a condition called Rosacea. People with Rosacea will have very sensitive skin over face usually cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Red raised spots, tiny blood vessels, pustules etc can be seen according to the type. Sunlight, spicy food, alcohol, hot beverages, hot fumes, smoke, heat, embarrassing social situations etc can all worsen it. Initially it will be episodic but later can become permanent and can even cause thickening of skin (phymatous changes) I would recommend you to see a dermatologist so that diagnosis can be confirmed and treatment can be initiated. Hope this helped Take care
