Sensitive To Small Issues, Feel Depressed And Cry A Lot. Is It Depression?
Hi! im ayesha and im 20yrs old i jus wanted to know that since my dads death i have become very sensitive to petty issues i like being alone, depressed and i cry alot without any reason, its not that i show it to people but since the last two three months i have started loosing friends out of my circle and most people think though im caring but still its better if they stood away from me!
It very sad that you lost your father, and the symptomatology you are showing as social withdrawal, crying spells, feeling depressed, low mood, loosing friends all are due to the loss. It a a normal grief reaction. But it has been said that grief reaction is normal for up to 6 months, if it prolongs more than 6 months then it may lead to depression and other mood disorders. Its life and one has to move continuously despite many setbacks. You have to come out of it otherwise if will hamper your life, your education, your occupation, and also it will cause burden to your family.
Try to share your grief with some close friend. Try to indulge in social activities, you can talk with any family member regarding your problem. Try to keep attention away from this by participating in some constructive work. But if condition worsen you can visit a good psychiatrist or counselor for proper management.
Take Care
Good luck.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
I'm sorry about your father's death and I understand that you are going through a difficult time. It is common to have some depressive symptoms after the loss of a loved one - this is called a grief reaction.
But if the symptoms are excessive or prolonged, then it may be indicative of a pathological grief or a depression. Since you mention that your symptoms are quite prominent and distressing, I would suggest that you see a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation. There are effective treatment options in the form of counselling or sometimes, medication, which can help you overcome your problems.
Wish you all the best.
