Severe Chronic Pancreatitis, On Oxycodone, Fentnyl. Feel Always Sleepy, Joints Ache. Can Slowly Stop It ?
I have very severe chronic pancreatitus an docs started me 11 yrs ago 5 mg oxycodone an 25 mic fentnyl now its up to 30 mg six times day an 150 mic every 3 days. Now all I do is sleep. Ive been to pain mngmnt an I can slowly stop the fentnyl an abruptly stop the oxy. prob. is doc put me on for a reason. once i start going down Im screaming in pain. There is a very real reason im on these med's. now when I wake up my fingers are knarled an joints ache an I'm sleeping a ridiculous amnt of time. Do u know of any other possible treatments. Ive had the multi million dollar work up puestow surgury 3 eus all showed all the way thru head body an tail. of pancreaus. im frequently hosp. so much so I have a port in chest veins in arms shot from so many iv's. Any Ideas greatly appreciated.
Hi, Thank you for the query. You are on a very high dose of analgesics. Best option for you is an EUS ( endoscopic ulrasound ) guided analgesic block in the pancreas ( coeliac block). This will help your pain and also will help cut down on your analgesics. Best wishes.
