Severe Cramps Around Buttocks And Back Of Legs. On Clopidogrel, Ramipril And Atorvastatin. Which Drug Is Causing Side Effects?
Hi Samuel I have been on Clopidogrel for just over a year and will be coming off it in 6 days time. I am also on Ramipril and Atorvastatin, my problem is I am suffering from cramps around my buttocks and down the back of my legs. Which of these drugs do you think is causing these cramps and what can I do to stop them. My doctor has put me on Cardio Co Q10 but with no effect. Roy.
Hi, Welcome to HCM, You are taking clopidogrel,Ramipril and Atorvastatin, and having cramps in gluteal region, out of these drug atorvastatin is likely to cause muscle damage in some individuals. You can test your CPK level which is increased in muscle damage and if CPK(Creatine phosphokinase ) is high then atorvastatin should be stopped, and report and discuss with your treating physician. Long term use of atorvastatin can cause low co enzyme q 10 supplementation may help. Please take care Good Luck Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
