Severe Fatigue Before Periods. Excessive Sleeping. Any Treatment?

For some reason, 2-3 days before my menstral cycle starts, I am completely exhausted.. almost feel drugged and feel the need to sleep most of the day. This hasn't always been the case but more so in the last year or two. Is there something I can take to prevent this? I have a 5 year old and take care of my friend's 1 year old.. I can't really do this every month.

Hi,
It could be due to the premenstrual tension which could be causing some fatigue too. You can consult a specialist and get a hormonal profile as hypothyroid and hyper insulinemic states could sometimes cause such a picture. You can also use nutritional supplements to improve the symptoms. As you said that you have been taking care of two small kids(and this is not an easy task), the stress could be telling on you during the premenstrual phase. Take care.
