Severe Hair Loss Inspite Of Good Diet. Suspicion Of Thyroid. Precautions To Be Taken?
hi, I am bhavani, 29 yrs, newly married.. I have loss of hair for more than 5 yrs.. But i balance it by taking sprouts daily.... I have dandruff.. Now It reached a stage where i lost most of my hair... recently I found that I am becoming weak by the end of the day.. i consulted doc and had several tests done.. Now Doc suspects for thyroid.. I am very afraid of it.. Can u pls tell me the symptoms and precautions to be taken so that I dont fall to it. I also hear that women becoming pregnant is difficult with thyroid..
Dear bhavani There may be thyroid imbalance without patients showing major symptoms.Thyroid testing can be done, there is nothing to fear. We will have to rule out female patterened hair loss or chronic temogen effluvium
Anti dandruff shampoo, topical minoxidil application and biotin, vitamin/minerals tablets will be of help in your case. If thyroid hormone levels are imbalanced then treatment for same has to be added. Whatever be the situation , the duration of treatment will be minimum three months. Treatment period can go upto a year. Few questions that need to be answered are- is there family history of hair loss, what is you hemoglobin level? Hope this brief answer helps. Plz feel free to ask further Regards Dr amit
