Severe Lower Back Pain, Difficulty In Walking, Sick Feeling, Urinalysis Showed Blood And Protein. No Relief With Medicines. Advice?
Hi, Since Saturday I have had severe lower back pain and feeling unwell and could hardly walk. I never take time of school (I am a teacher) but am so bad I can t go in. The doctor found blood and protein in my urine and gave a three day course of antibiotics which I have taken, I am still in pain and feeling unwell should the antibiotics have worked by now?
Hi
The combination of blood and protein with back pain is highly suggestive of stone in urinary tract. There could also be have been urinary infection - Antibiotic helps in infection not stone
The best solution will be to have investigations - kidney function tests / X-ray +/- Sonography of kidney-ureter- bladder regions....
Urologist will be the best person to approach
In the mean time, anti-spasmodic and Non-Steroidal-Anti-Inflammatory-Drugs (NSAID) will help for symptomatic relief
Wishing you speedy recovery
God luck
